Ode To Pie

There are those
who in time past spake.
And sang praises of
the joys of cake.
But I’m perplexed
and wonder why,
is there there not
more respect for pie?
Always moist
tart or sweet,
it never fails
to be a treat.
Cake is served on great occasions,
but I propose a new equation.
Memories remain in one’s mind eye,
if instead of cake,
you’re served pie.
fruit or berry,
or of vegetable,
it satisfies,
and makes one full.
I ask at the next celebration,
make it a memorable occasion.
The old rules need not apply.
Serve one and all,
by serving pie.
