Love Lost

It is better to have loved and lost,
than never to have felt
heartbreak, rejection and depression.
Then again,
maybe not.

My Imaginary Friend

I had an imaginary friend,
when I was a boy.
I asked him to play with me,
games,
and with my toys.
After all these years,
we met again recently.
Things haven’t really changed.
He wants no part of me.

Things I Do

I do this,
and I do that.
What I shouldn’t,
and what I should.
The common thread
of all these things,
is I don’t do them
very good.

A New Skill For Me

If I could learn a skill,
whatever talent that I would choose,
for a change I think I’d learn,
something someone,
somewhere,
could use.

Critical Decision

The monkey was disgusted,
as it stood neck deep in water.
It was foul and it stank,
but that’s not what caused him bother.
Nor the polluted air,
that caused it to choke.
No it was the reading,
of a poem I wrote.

Should Have Been Specific

When I was young,
I hoped I’d have success,
and I have succeeded,
in making a big mess.

An Almost Lucky Day

I received amazing news.
The kind most called “blessed.”
It was unexpected.
This gift I was bequest.
Yet sadly I missed the deadline,
and my moment was tainted.
I was in the hospital,
because I was injured
when I fainted.

My Horoscope

My horoscope today
said I was inclined,

to read my horoscope,
which is a waste of time.

Dream Destination

There is a place I’d like to go.
A destination for me to achieve.

It’s a place where the people,
won’t ask me to leave.

Random Abandon

I did a random google search.
the result was quite cruel.
For my own picture came up,
when I typed in the word,
“fool.”

Following My Gut

To follow an instinct,
can be called a “gut feeling”.
It can lead to disaster,
or a result that is appealing.

Whenever I,
follow my gut,
it involves food,
and my mouth,
that never shuts.

Generous Genie

There was a genie freed from a lamp,
by a poor and dirty tramp.

Three wishes to the tramp was granted,
for freeing the genie from where he was stranded.

“I wish I knew what to wish for.”,
to which the genie said “You have two more!”

“I wish you would have told me the rules!”
The genie laughed “Now you have only one you fool.”

The tramp said “I wish for endless wishes.”
The genie replied “You’re most ambitious!

As you command I grant your spell!”
Then the tramp turned into a wishing well!

My Most Active Summer Day

I had very busy day,
just this summer past.
I had to run as not before,
I had to run most fast.
If I would have gone too slow,

I’d have been out of luck.
For I needed to move quickly,
to catch the ice cream truck.

A Reluctant But Decisive Call To Action

I have tried to keep my political views to myself.
Having a public platform to display my writing does not necessarily make me an expert in political affairs.
However there comes a time when events forces even the reluctant to fight for a noble cause.
Recent events have stirred such a response from me.
No longer able to stand on the sidelines watching others engage in battle,

I have decided to wholeheartedly jump into the game in the strongest and most powerful means available to me.
Therefore drawing upon my contacts, and my own financial resources,
I have formulated this call to action.
I am hereby calling together some well known and trusted experts in this matter and charging them with the responsibility of forming a council,
that will chose select members with particular talents on this issue,
to convene a committee,
that together with my full backing will investigate the possibility,
of empowering a blue ribbon panel,
whose duty will be to oversee the selection of a cabinet,
(along with the proper representatives and consultants),
that will set up a task force with one focused and singular mission.
To ensure that a commission is to be set up,
(chaired by a selected member of a sub committee that reports to chargé d’affaires of a newly formed bureau),
and that will be empowered to make appointments,
to a board of trustees,
whose sole duty will be to create a think tank,
that will investigate in the utmost haste possible,
the formation of a fully capable cabinet of deputies,
(derived from each groups privy council),
that will call a convocation,
and assembly caucus,
that will move forward in decision making process how to best rectify the problem at hand.
Let the enemies of the common good be warned!

Mr. Procrastination

There is no hurry.
It can wait.
It's not because
I procrastinate.

Tomorrow is
another day.
Why should I Rush
when I can delay?

Perhaps there is
a better way.
Maybe it
will go away.

Haste makes waste.
Best to conserve.
Give it the thought
that it deserves.

Who know what
tomorrow brings?
It could show us
better things.

I still must think,
I still must plan,
about yesterdays
tasks at hand.

Network News

Few facts
Stunning speculation.
Heaping hyperbole.
Angry accusations.
Delayed discovery.
Rare retractions.

Morning Mourning

I've been known
to shed a tear,
at films and books,
or things I hear.

But each morn I cry,
and can hardly bare,
to see myself,
in the mirror.

In The Eye Of The Beholder

I was surprised to see,
two women staring at me.

“He’s quite handsome”, said the first.
“I agree”, said the next.

Two ladies at the D.M.V.,
failing their eye test.

Government Deregulation

Clever Retort

I have had discussions
to which my reply,
is only thought by me,
after years have gone by.

Once I was told
I would not amount to much.
I would be a failure,
in every project I would touch.

I was called unappealing.
It took me all aback.
But now I know the words
that at the time I lacked.

When I was told these things,
that seemed to me so bad.
I should turned and said
with confidence “Oh Yeah?”

Poetic Pretension

The inclination to give perception,

of eloquent literary invention,
may cause an author's attention,
to submit to poetic pretension.

The serious poets curse,

may be to write in fanciful verse.
With works that appear,
a mix of King James and Shakespeare.

Though temptation may beguile,

still I resist that style.
Perhaps because my muse,
is closer to Seuss.

Off On The Right Foot

When I awake,
shortly after morning’s light,

to ensure a better day,
I put my shoes on right.

Robotic Resolve

I got a robot
to do my common chores.
It freed from the things
I don’t like doing anymore.

I’m getting out of shape.
I guess the reason why,
is because I’ve made the robot
do my exercise.

Pressing Engagement

What is my next deadline you ask?
And how does it make me feel?

I admit I’m always nervous,
I might be late for my next meal.

I Respectfully Disagree

I have a bone of contention.
With most I disagree.

I alone am not the cause,
of this world's misery.

Happy Day

The sun did not rise that day.

The animals had fled away.

It rained hard and would not stop.

And turned to steam on a ground hot.

Yet everyone had a similar view,

when they had heard the news.

For from the earth on that day,

I had finally gone away.

Then each person danced and twirled,

“And all was right in the world.”

Commute Salute or Left On Their Own Rats Wouldn’t Race

Weekday wheeled warriors,
weaving wildly,
wishing, waiting,
wondering why.
When will we wander?

Winnebago's, wobbly water wagons,
watching while wishing
we were within walking.
Why would we waist workdays watching wreaks?

Weary, whistling, wrenched, weirdos.
