Clever Retort

I have had discussions

to which my reply,

is only thought by me,

after years have gone by.

Once I was told

I would not amount to much.

I would be a failure,

in every project I would touch.

I was called unappealing.

It took me all aback.

But now I know the words

that at the time I lacked.

When I was told these things,

that seemed to me so bad.

I should turned and said

with confidence “Oh Yeah?”
